This beautiful ring comes from the Vintage Era from a Hopi Nation jeweler!
Hopi Nation jewelry is extremely popular as most of the designs are completely hand made with the Hopi style! During the 1960's Storyteller jewelry became popular due to the need of non-Native Americans to have some sort of Indian folk art to display or wear. Storyteller jewelry pieces are generally overlay. Each figure is cut out then placed onto a contrasting background and finished in place. A very painstaking and delicate process.Overlay pieces are made of two layers. The bottom layer is a solid sterling silver piece. The top layer has a cutout design.
The cutout is placed over the bottom layer and the two pieces are sweated together, that is heated so that they become one. The bottom layer is usually accented. The Navajo silversmiths oxidize the bottom layer which darkens it. Hopi silversmiths oxidize and etch the background texture it with hash marks. The gold work in this piece includes classic Hopi Nation craftsmanship throughout! This ring is beyond heavy as well! The design includes a carved design of the Adobe Cliff Dwellings. The design is beautifully detailed with incredible features that match the rare site beautifully and include incredible details of the Hopi Nation style!
The ring measures in at 1" long by 3/4" wide. Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates. Unfortunately, most of the jewelry from this time period has been lost or melted down over the years, please don't miss your chance to own this special piece of history! Sizable by Your Local Jeweler.Due to the age of some of these pieces, some items will not be stamped.
